I regularly approach my two bosses without being asked and report back to them. I attend training sessions with my colleagues and we exchange professional information. With my students, I strive to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom by letting them feel how much I take them seriously.

Ketki, teacher, India

I am involved in the association "Weltreise durch Wohnzimmer e.V." and with this work I would like to create a space for people from all over the world where they meet with respect and appreciation.

Catrin, 53 years, Germany

By asking "What do you need?" my superiors, colleagues and customers immediately know that I am part of the solution.

Monique, Account Manager, Netherlands

We decorate the neighbours' front door at a wedding. For this we meet three times at the bride and groom's house: once to measure the wreath, once to put it on and once to take it down a few weeks after the wedding. Each meeting is like a small celebration.

Catrin, 53 years, Germany

We women from the neighbourhood meet in turn for a coffee ceremony. We roast the coffee beans over a small fire, grind them, then drink the coffee and exchange news about our lives. We give each other advice and support.

Hiwot, 32 years, Eritrea

My neighbours feel just like a loving family. They are always welcome. As a neighbour, I am always approachable for my neighbours. That's a good feeling - no one is alone with their worries.

Chikondi, 23 years, Malawi

I always play cards with a few neighbours on Mondays. That's only a short distance away. While playing, we exchange news from the street at the same time.

Elfi, 82 years, Germany

A card with congratulations for a birth, communion, confirmation or wedding is always a nice gesture. Somehow it is the small nice gestures that make peace in the neighbourhood.

Ewa, 42 years, Poland

Celebrations are the means of peace in our neighbourhood and we find many reasons for them: barbecuing (when the warm season comes), glowing down (when the cold season leaves), child goes abroad, child comes back... If we haven't celebrated anything for a while, we simply create a reason for the next party. We are very creative. A street party with a flea market is always great. Then everyone has more time than just for a quick chat in the stairwell.

Dagmar, 45 years, Germany

Our neighbours also have a dog. Every now and then we meet up to go for a walk and continue the walk together.

Margarete, 65 years, Poland
